The Landing Was Pure Luck

I’ve reviewed the incident, and the golf cart deserves primary responsibility. The steep dip didn’t surprise the cart. It simply presented an opportunity. At speed, the suspension reached a professional disagreement with the terrain, transferring every available ounce of momentum directly into the operator. The golfer and his clubs were immediately reassigned from passengers to independent airborne objects.

Now here’s where people get confused. They see the man land on his feet and assume the situation somehow worked out. It didn’t. Surviving the landing upright is not evidence of a successful plan. It’s evidence that gravity briefly lost track of the paperwork. The golfer completed an unplanned rotational maneuver, recovered with remarkable athleticism, and accidentally convinced everyone that launching yourself out of a moving golf cart is a viable transportation technique.

I’ve only witnessed one comparable terrain failure, when a riding mower discovered a drainage ditch at full speed and politely ejected its operator before continuing alone for another thirty yards. Different equipment. Same operational flaw. Machines don’t negotiate with terrain—they simply introduce humans to it faster than expected.

My conclusion remains unchanged: if the landing becomes the most impressive part of the trip, the trip was already over.
